About 712 Tools

A focused set of browser-based developer utilities, built and maintained by one person out of Ontario, Canada.

Who builds this

Shan
Software Engineer ยท M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering ยท Ontario, Canada

I'm Shan - I hold a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and now work as a Software Engineer. 712 Tools is a personal project I run in the evenings from Ontario, Canada, built on the belief that developer utilities should be fast, private, and free - no sign-up, no upload, no ads inside the tools.

My engineering background makes me obsessive about the workflow around a task - the click paths, the copy-paste rhythm, the moment when a tool actually saves time versus the moment it wastes it. Every tool on this site is built for the second case.

Why another dev-tools site

Every existing developer-tool site does roughly the same thing - so why another one? Because most of them wrap the tools in aggressive ads and cookie prompts, upload your data to their servers, or gate features behind a signup. The tools here don't.

Everything on 712 Tools runs entirely in your browser using native JavaScript APIs - the same APIs your DevTools console uses. Your JSON, your JWTs, your .env files, your production data - none of it leaves your device. You can open a tool page, disconnect your wifi, and it keeps working.

How the content is written

Every tool page and blog post on 712 Tools is written from first-hand engineering experience - either from problems I've hit while shipping software, or from utilities I built for myself first and then packaged for others. There's no AI-generated filler.

When a post references a spec, an RFC, or a browser API, it links to the primary source so you can verify. Prices and features that change (LLM API rates, browser support tables) are dated so you can tell whether the information is still current.

If you spot something wrong - a broken tool, an out-of-date price, a claim that doesn't match your experience - email me at 712studiogames@gmail.com. Corrections ship fast.

Where the site lives

712 Tools is operated from Ontario, Canada, and served worldwide via Cloudflare's edge network. There is no backend server for the tools themselves - every page is static HTML plus JavaScript that executes in your browser.
