How much smaller does the JS get?

Typically 20-50%. Comment-heavy or well-formatted files shrink more; already-minified code shrinks less.

Does it mangle variable names?

No. Only whitespace and comments are removed - variable names are preserved. For name mangling use a real bundler like esbuild or Terser.

Will it break my code?

It preserves the code's tokens. That said, minification via regex has edge cases with regex literals and template strings - for production code, use a proper parser-based tool.

Is my code uploaded?

No. Minification runs entirely in your browser.
